Sarah had worked the night before and stayed awake the whole drive to keep me company and help me stay awake since I don't like to drive... Genevieve was not so helpful but we are thankful she chose to take her morning nap during the entire drive.
In Iowa, we ran into SNOW! My mom had wonderful food for us and Baby G showed off her wonderful smiles and pseudo-crawling abilities. We chose not to go into the festival on Saturday because of the crummy weather.
The Wicked tickets that evening were a Christmas gift to Geoff and me but since he is STILL in Maryland, Sarah was nice enough to keep me company. We had awesome seats! So close we had a big pile of streamers in our laps during the opening song. It was so amazing to see the show that close, seeing every detail of the costumes, tricks and facial expressions! wow!
Grandma & Grandpa Bartelt were the lucky ones to babysit G for me and she did great! It's so funny how well she falls asleep for everyone else but me... I think I might have spoiled her!
Sunday we had a wonderful breakfast then headed into Winterset. It was still pretty cold but at least no snow.
Genevieve stylin' in her new coat, hat, mittens & shoes:
It was so disappointing to see how empty the square was this year. I remember how packed it used to be with tourists, craft booths and every fried food imaginable. Although it was still fun to go see, I hope it can someday be as good as it once was... Another movie would help. :)
For the parade, we went to my childhood friend, Joanna's house. She has the most fun little boys! Jake, the two year old, was in love with Genevieve and would come up and give her hugs and kisses. At first, she loved it, then she was totally "over him". haha!
