cold and flu season

This year's flu season has been unusually early this year, as I'm sure all of you are aware with the outbreak of "heinie" flu as well. Sweet Baby G came home from the sitter's on Thursday with the start of a runny nose. I just chalked it up to the monthly daycare sharing lessons including the take-home project of mom wiping baby's nose every 20 minutes.
Friday it was a little worse, but it didn't seem to bother her. Saturday, in Iowa, Gen started to have a little cough and was not eating her usual portions. And on Sunday afternoon, the fever kicked in. Since then, we have been battling a fever, cough, horribly runny nose, grouchiness, poor appetite, interrupted sleep, changed work schedule, and two days in pajamas.

One quick moment of happiness last night before bath time, still in the previous night's pj's:

I called Robin yesterday to let her know we wouldn't be there today and she said another little boy came down with the same symptoms on Friday also, and his doctor said it was the FLU! ack!
Gen's clinic nurse said that these fevers can last 3-7 days!
I finally took a shower today during her short morning nap and was hoping for a nap myself but no such luck. Genevieve has been in a little bit better mood this afternoon, I'm just hoping for no fever and a better afternoon nap. She is just so pitiful like this, I almost would rather stay home with her for another day to make sure she really is ok... plus I'm not feeling that stellar either.
sigh......
